Lupus Support Group
The Muskogee Lupus Support Group held its first meeting Thursday. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at MCCOYS, 4009 Eufaula Ave.
Family members are welcome, along with others who may have an auto immune disease.
The next meeting is Nov. 1.

Fort Gibson Genealogical and Historical Society
The Fort Gibson Genealogical and Historical society will meet on at 6 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Fort Gibson. The library will be open at 5 p.m. for those who wish to do research.
The speaker is Wally Waits, who retired from the Muskogee Public Library and currently writes a blog on the history of Muskogee and surrounding areas. His topic is “The deconstruction of the 1911 Water Reservoir on Agency Hill.”
This month is pizza month, which the club provides. Others may bring desserts or anything to go with pizza.

Muskogee Area Quilters Guild
The October meeting of the Muskogee Area Quilters Guild will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Nash Hall of the First Presbyterian Church in Muskogee.
The program will be Roberta Thomason from the Fabric Patch Quilt Shop in Gore. She will show techniques for making the “Four-Patch Posey Quilt” and will have fabric, patterns and quilting items from her shop for sale at the meeting.
The learning opportunity will start at 5 p.m., and you will be learning to make a fancy spider web with colorful thread and a regular sewing machine. Bring a 10x10” piece of fabric and the rest will be supplied.
Anyone interested in quilting is invited to attend.

Alpha Theta 1038
Alpha Theta 1038 of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the home of Ruth Jo Carnagey. Kara West will serve as co-hostess.
Agenda items include a report from Philanthropic Chairperson Chris Roberts on the pizza party held for students at the Oklahoma School for the Blind on Oct. 1. Chris will also report on five students at OSB who will be sponsored by Alpha Theta. Marjorie Szabo will present an educational on the the theme “Life in Muskogee Oklahoma—the best kept secret.”
Ways and Means Chairperson Billye Lackey will discuss the recent concession stand work at the Civic Center. Parliamentarian Ruth Jo will ask for input from members on any needed bylaw changes. All officers and chairpersons will be called on for reports.
President Joan Eaton will lead a discussion on a donation to be made to a charity in honor and memory of long time member Betsey Standridge. Joan will remind members of upcoming meetings and plans will be made to attend the Oct. 13 District V meeting in McAlester and the Nov. 3 State Council meeting to be held in Norman.
Members are reminded that the discussion on the Vi Gardner Scholarship will continue regarding the number of scholarships to be awarded and how to publicize this scholarship.
