Daughters of the American Revolution

The Muskogee Indian Territory Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will participate in a tour of Bacone College on Oct. 20 in lieu of a regular meeting. DAR Members and their guests are invited to attend.

The tour will start at the Lucy Peters Hall for a meet and greet at 9:30 a.m., a visit to the Ataloa Museum at 10 a.m. and lunch with Dr. Duncan at Hurley House. At 1:30 p.m. the tour includes a visit to the Bacone Commons and Library. The tour is over at 3 p.m.

Muskogee Garden Club

The Muskogee Garden Club will meet at 9:45 a.m. Nov. 18 at the Kiwanis Seniors Center, 119 Spaulding Blvd. Coffee and social time will be at 9:30 a.m.. Hostess will be Helen Pierceall, Marilyn Gilder and Nola Mason.

Mandy Blocker, new agriculture educator for the Muskogee County OSU Extension, will be speaking on the OSU Extension Master Gardener program and answering gardening questions. Plans for a Saturday field trip to the rose garden of Dr. Troy Garrett in Checotah will be finalized. Garden nominations are needed for the June 2013 Garden Tour. Anyone interested in submitting their own, a neighbor's or friends' garden can contact Chairman Marilyn Hinshaw, (918) 682-3601. The membership questionnaire is due back at this meeting.

Alumnae Deltas

The dynamic ladies of Delta have partnered with Women of Worth (WOW) of New Balm Outreach Ministries to present its 2nd annual Cancer Awareness Seminar at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 20 in the first floor conference room of the Muskogee Public Library.

Guest speakers include a representative from the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. There will also be door prizes and refreshments. The Muskogee Alumnae Deltas will wear a pink ribbon each Friday in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The next Sorors chapter meeting will be held Nov. 10 at a new location.

Rock Club

Following a fun time with hundreds of school children and others at the Riverfest at War Eagle, members of the Rock Club will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Tahlequah Public Library. The guest speaker will be Kyle Murray, hydrologist with the Oklahoma Geological Survey. He will give a program on water resources. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served. They will also have a business meeting and show and tell.

Muskogee County Retired Educators

Muskogee County Retired Educators will meet at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Muskogee Art Guild, 315 Court St. Sharon Walker, district director, will present a program regarding information on upcoming OREA events and legislative update. Sharon Zawaski will give the devotion. Zawaski is also chairperson for the refreshments. Members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the legislative agenda.



Bridge Club

Bridge winners for Oct. 5 were Ruth Sharpe and Bonnie Jennings, with a 70 percent game, and Ralph Parker and Fran Martin second. Oct. 8 Norma Kolmer and Linda Stearns were first, and Joan Chapman and Carol Ketchum were second.

Four members, Dave Murdock, Linda Stearns, Norma Kolmer, and Ann Kent attended a regional tournament at Springfield, Mo. They won five of six session to give Dave Murdock and Norma Kolmer the required gold points for their life master degree. There will be silver point games on Nov. 5 and 11.
