Muskogee New Friends

Upcoming events for the Muskogee New Friends:

• Monday — 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Happy Quilters meet at St. Pauls Methodist. All club members should bring projects to work on. The club is working to make items to fill its booth at First Methodist’s Annual Bazaar Nov. 8 and 9.

• Friday —11:15 a.m. Cowboy’s buffet lunch/games. Eating begins promptly at 11:30 a.m. Reservations required. Games following lunch.

Green Country Duplicate Bridge

Green Country Duplicate Bridge meets at 12:30 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Kiwanis Senior Citizens Center, 119 Spaulding Blvd. Newcomers are welcome. If you are interested in playing or learning to play duplicate bridge, call Ann Kent at (918) 682-3098, Mary Smith at (918) 682-2605, or Sandy Cole at (918) 684-9002.

Recent winners:

• Sept. 13 — Betty Jordan and Jane Lopes, first; Ruth Sharpe and Fran Martin, second; and Ralph Parker and Mary Smith, third.

• Sept. 16 — Martha Tuteral and Jane Lopes, first; and Ann Kent and Dave Murdock tied with Linda Stearns and Norma Kolmer for second.

Four members are participating in a sectional tournament this weekend in Bella Vista, Ark.

At 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 the club will sponsor a Halloween bridge party at the Kiwanis Senior Center for all bridge players who are interested. Please RSVP to the above numbers.

Alpha Theta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha

Alpha Theta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha will hold a garage sale from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 303 Langton in Fort Gibson. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude has been the philanthropic project of Epsilon Sigma Alpha for more than 40 years with millions being donated during these years. ESA Chapters across the United States sponsor fundraising events for this hospital with Oklahoma Chapters donating hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.

The Langton addition is located along Oklahoma 10 between Willey Road and Donkey Lane.

Items available for sale include books, children’s clothing, household items, toys, glassware, pictures, and many miscellaneous treasures. Available will the Okie Night Light.
