Golf tournament to raise funds for cerebral palsy center

— The seventh annual Kelly B. Todd Charity Golf Tournament returns to the Muskogee Country Club on May 20. The tournament is presented by Mobility Plus, a division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, and benefits the Kelly B. Todd Cerebral Palsy Center in Muskogee.

“The golf tournament continues to be a great fundraiser for the center,” Beverly Todd, founder of the Kelly B. Todd Center, said in a media release. “The children who receive therapy at the center truly benefit from the generosity of the golfers and sponsors.”

The Kelly B. Todd Cerebral Palsy and Neuro-Muscular Center was founded by David and Beverly Todd in 1975 in Muskogee. After their son, Kelly B. Todd, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, the Todd family felt compelled to open a specialized facility where children with similar conditions could receive physical therapy.

The nonprofit center provides therapy and services to children affected by cerebral palsy, spina bifida, Down syndrome, spectrum disorders and other conditions that affect a person’s ability to control movement. These services are open to all children affected by these diseases, regardless of their financial situation.

The tournament is sponsored and staffed by Mobility Plus, along with board members and employees of the Kelly B. Todd Cerebral Palsy Center. One hundred percent of the tournament’s proceeds benefit the center. Since 2007, the tournament has raised nearly $70,000 for the center.

“Mobility Plus is proud to support the Kelly B. Todd Center with our annual golf tournament,” said Todd Gourd, president of Mobility Plus, in a media release. “This organization does such important work with families in the Muskogee area, and we’re just glad to lend a hand to help them.”

For those who sign up prior to May 1, registration is $100 for individuals and $400 for a team of four. Starting May 1, individual entries are $125 and team entries are $500. Registration includes lunch prior to the tournament, a cart, practice at the driving range and green fees. All teams tee off at noon with a shotgun start. There will be contests for putting and chipping, longest drive, closest to the pin and a hole-in-one prize.
