There’s much to see, do these days at the Muskogee Public Library

Books and More

— How long has it been since you visited the Muskogee Public Library? If it has been a while, then you have no idea what goes on at a library these days.

Libraries were once places where people were expected to tiptoe and speak in whispers and hushed voices. Now they are more alive, active and vibrant with programs and events happening every month for all ages.

This month you can have a “bind date with a book.” Select a covered book from the display at the Muskogee Public Library. While there are clues on the cover of the book you can't tell which book it is until you get it home. This gives you a chance to try out authors and genres you might not ordinarily read. You may discover a new favorite author or type of book that you will enjoy.

Each month there is a Leggo Building Club at the library for kids of all ages. There are also events for the Teens and Tweens and popular books and graphic novels can be found in the Teen Zone area on the second floor.

A Wii and several games are also available to be played at the Muskogee Public Library. Games such as chess, checkers and monopoly are also available for families and friends to enjoy at the Library.

Whether you enjoy reading a story from an actual book, reading a book on an ereader or listening to a book there is a wide selection of authors and titles to be found at the Muskogee Public Library. For those who prefer watching movies or television programs these are also available at the Library for checkout.

Computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office are available to use at the Muskogee Public Library. You can bring in your laptop or other device and connect with out wifi free of charge. There are also several different databases with books, magazines and journals for people to use both at the Library and at your home. These can be found by going to the Muskogee Public Library's website at www.eok.lib.ok.us and clicking on the Research tab at the top of the page.

You can also search for books, audio, ebooks and more that are available at all the branches of the Eastern Oklahoma District Library System. Select the items you want to read and they will be sent to the branch library of your choice for you to pick up when they are available for you.

These are but a few of the many programs, events, and items that are available for you and your entire family to enjoy that can be found at the Muskogee Public Library, a branch of the Eastern Oklahoma District Library System.

Why not come for a visit and see what you've been missing?
