‘Clapping Song’ wins awards


— Lisa Logan, owner/director of Show Biz Dance Studio in Muskogee, recently announced the achievements of one of her groups at recent competitions that she taught and choreographed.

The tap group known as “The Clapping Song” competed at Talent On Parade Dance Competition at Rose State College in Oklahoma City in March. At that competition, the six-member group competed in the 11/12-year-old Junior Small Group Tap category and were honored with the following awards:

• Elite Top First Place trophy in the 11/12-year-old tap category.

• Fourth place in overall high points award in the Junior Small Group Age division.

The group qualified for National Finals, which were held at the Tulsa Convention Center in June.

At the national level with more than 1,000 acts competing, the group won:

• “Diamond” Elite Top first place trophy in the 11/12-year-old Small Group Tap category.

• First place overall high points award in the Junior Age division.

The group was also honored with a cash award for the first place overall win.

In previous years, the group attended regional and national finals with T.O.P. and won Diamond Elite first place and first place overalls in jazz and tap, clog, musical theater and hip hop.
