Quarter Note Club

While students transition from pep songs and marching to concert season and festive holiday tunes, the Muskogee High School band booster club seeks support from the community.

Upcoming expenses include instrument and equipment repair, uniform cleaning maintenance, transportation expenses, contest fees, meals for away trips and the Spring Performance Tour in May. More than 70 students are enrolled in band.

The Quarter Note Club strives to provide educational performance opportunities and personal skill development for Muskogee’s instrumental music education students.

“No matter the economic income for the individual, our goal is for every band student to participate in all the events and activities. They will remember this for the rest of their lives,” Keith Garrison, president of the Quarter Note Club, said in a media release.

 The following is a select list of upcoming events and fundraisers for the club:

• Nov. 29 — Ol’ Time Downtown Christmas sponsored by Downtown Muskogee Inc., 5 to 8 p.m. at Square Deal Music and Sound, 212 W. Broadway. Free admission. Enjoy music, snacks and door prizes while supporting downtown businesses. Coffee, hot chocolate, Christmas goodies and hand-made crafts available for purchase.

• Dec. 1 — MHS band marches in the Muskogee Christmas Parade sponsored by Downtown Muskogee Inc. Parade starts at 2 p.m. From 1 to 4 p.m., the Quarter Note Club will be at Square Deal Music and Sound, 212 W. Broadway. Coffee, hot chocolate, Christmas goodies and hand-made crafts available for purchase.

• Dec. 13 — Muskogee Public Schools Instrumental Music Program Christmas Concert, 7 p.m.,  Muskogee High School Fine Arts Auditorium. Free admission. Concert will feature the seventh and eighth grade bands as well as Muskogee High School concert and indoor marching show. Hand-made crafts available for purchase and all proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Quarter Note Club.

The Quarter Note Club is a not-for-profit, parent/teacher organization that provides support and financial assistance for the Pride of Muskogee, Rougher Band and all instrumental music programs at Muskogee High School.
