More than 200 entries are expected for Saturday’s car truck and motorcycle show.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Gary Perkins, executive director of the sponsoring Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce. “It’s also the biggest single event in downtown Fort Gibson, bringing upwards of 2,500 people into downtown Fort Gibson.”
The first Corn Festival, which is set for June 26 and 27 may change that, he said.
The chamber has sponsored the car show for 15 years and this year’s event promises to be one of the largest ever, Perkins said.
In addition to the having several food and merchandise vendors and hundreds of cars and motorcycles on display Saturday, there also will be an Orange County Cherokee Chopper on display, Perkins said.
The show begins at 6 p.m. Friday, with a loud pipe contest and burnout on U.S. 62 at Benge, on the south side of the convenience store and service station.
There will be bleacher seating available. Car show T-shirts will be sold at that event and at the car show.
Saturday’s events include the car show, entertainment and free inflatables for the kids, Perkins said.
Entry for the car show is $20. Admission is free.
Following the show, there will be a cruise, which is open to everyone. Three $100 prizes will be awarded to participants.
