‘Seasons of Life’ brings church women together

Women from all walks of life and from several area churches gathered Saturday for Ladies Inspiration Day at the Fort Gibson Church of Christ.
This year’s theme was “Seasons of Life.”
Area churches each host a ladies’ day event once a year to create fellowship opportunities with other congregations, said Sue Perry, Church of Christ ladies ministry member.
The Church of Christ began hosting ladies’ day events in 1976, she said. They haven’t hosted one in the last two years, however.
“We plan to start doing this every year,” Perry said.
The service included a poem, music and special lesson from Janyt May of Tulsa Memorial Drive Church of Christ.
Before lunch, Beth Brannon narrated a style show that represented women from all “seasons of life” including retirement, young mother, empty nest, teenage and more.
JCPenney’s loaned all the outfits, accessories, and shoes for the show.
Betty Martin modeled the retirement time of life and wore a chocolate brown slacks and jacket set with a cream-colored turtleneck.
Tiffani Perry modeled as the young mother. “I wore a black dress and carried along my little child (her daughter Holli),” she said.
Other models exhibited single mother, high school, working woman, and even bride-to-be.
Inspiration Day ended with a luncheon in the church social hall.
Brenda Dortch, ladies ministry member, helped with cooking and serving.
“We fixed it all ourselves: baked potatoes, salad, and homemade cookies,” she said.
Each woman set a table with their own china, crystal, and silverware, then decorated each table with a special theme.
