We are excited to announce another Chamber ribbon cutting with the grand opening of the Clifford D. Garrett Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 1224 E. Poplar St.
Cliff and Carmen Garrett, along with the Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce, want to invite everyone out to the opening of their new funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday.
While many of us know Cliff as owner/operator of the Pecan Valley Golf Course, he is also experienced, licensed and certified in all aspects of funeral services and looks forward to serving our community when it is necessary for that type of family service.
They can be reached at (918) 478-2555, or online at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also check out their web site at: www.clifforddgarrettfamilyfh.com. The Garrett Family Funeral Home is now open, and both Cliff and Carmen are here to serve. Again, join us at 2 p.m. Thursday for their grand opening and official ribbon cutting. Refreshments will be served.
It's Car Show time! Friday and Saturday will feature our 19th annual Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show. All the activities will start at 7 p.m. Friday alongside the Phillips 66 station at Lee Street and U.S. 62 when the burnout contest and loud pipe contest get started.
Always a crowd pleaser, these contests will offer cash and trophies to the winners based on crowd appeal. The cost to enter is $10, and you can enter at the site. Bleachers will be set up, and there is no charge for the public to view all the activities.
Following these contests, we will hold a special cruise, also known as a car parade, beginning at the Church of Christ parking lot and travel around our town on a prescribed course, ending up at our starting place.
There is no charge to enter this cruise, and we will hold random drawings for cash prizes for those involved. We invite all to join us for this fun trip around historic Fort Gibson.
Saturday is the car show with entries from all around the region. Entries will start arriving early and fill our downtown streets with all makes and categories of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Trophies will be awarded to the top 50 entries, and "Best of Show" trophies will be awarded to the best car, truck, and motorcycle. There will be many other prizes and surprises for the public and those entered in the car show.
The actual start of the show and deadline for vehicle entry is 11 a.m. with an opening prayer, posting of the colors by Boy Scout Troop 626, and singing of the national anthem by Carrigan Bradley.
Throughout the day, we will have DJ Chris Mann playing great 50s’ and 60s’ cruisin' music, in addition to a special live performance for your entertainment.
A large inflatable area will be set up for the kids. In addition to all this, there will be food and merchandise vendors to tempt you, along with official T-shirts that can be purchased. We also will have a special swap meet area set up for those who would like to sell their miscellaneous car parts, accessories, etc.
There is no booth charge for the auto swap meet area. To enter a vehicle, the cost is $20, which includes a dash plaque, and you can enter online or at the chamber office the day of the event, prior to the 11 a.m. start time.
This is always a great family event, so come on out and spend the day with us. For additional information, give me a call at (918) 577-2069.
