With the new year upon us, it is time for the Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce to turn its attention to our upcoming banquet. The banquet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at the River Center at Three Forks Harbor.
This annual event consists of a silent auction, dinner, special entertainment, a guest speaker and some award presentations. We also take time to introduce the Chamber’s 2014 Board of Directors and officers.
The banquet is open to everyone and is a great way to spend an evening and get to know what’s going on around Fort Gibson. Cost is only $20 per person, and payment is accepted at the door.
The silent auction always is fun and exciting. The auction gives everyone a chance to write down their bids and possibly pick up some very good buys, services, or dining experiences for a very good price.
Our team of “expert item procurers” will be looking for those special items to fill our tables for the auction within the next few weeks. If anyone has something they would like to donate to the cause, please give me a call at (918) 577-2069. Your help in this regard is much appreciated. I will be sharing additional information regarding our annual banquet as we get closer to the date.
We had a great turnout to our Weekly Chamber Luncheon this past Thursday. For the month of January, we are holding our luncheon at 11:30 a.m. each Thursday at The Courtyard Bistro on South Lee Street.
This past week, we had the following individuals in attendance: Steve Clinkenbeard, Patsy Clinkenbeard, Justin Young and young son Westin, Rhonda Lee, Sue Edwards, Kathy Perkins, Tim Smith, Rennie Ohl, Patty Ohl, Paul DeNeui, Charlie Leveille, Melinda Williams, and myself. It was a great meal, with some great conversation, including New Year’s resolutions, football, real estate, weather, family, and a little politics and religion.
The luncheon is always very casual and everyone is invited. Come join us each Thursday and experience the fun.
The annual Chamber membership and board ratification letter mailings went out this past week, so keep an eye open for those. This past year, we added several new members and would like to accomplish the same this year.
Membership in the Chamber gives you access to our weekly newsletter. The newsletter allows you to let us know what is going on in your business or service. We pass that information to the community through our weekly “Chamber Notes,” which is published in the Muskogee Phoenix each Tuesday.
Your membership also helps support the many annual events that the Chamber puts on, supports the multitude of mailings that we do for relocation requests, town information, and economic development requests that we get. As members of the State Chamber, we receive all the updated business and political information from around the state. We pass that information on when appropriate, as well as information from many clubs, organizations, and services.
Your membership strengthens our community and shows your support in the many functions that the Chamber is involved in. If you are not a member, joining is easy. Merely give me a call, and I will get the information and application for membership out to you. Cost is only $150 annually for a business and only $50 for an individual.
Non-profit organizations can join for only $100 annually. If you are not a member of the chamber and want to be, give me a call at (918) 577-2069.
