Sculpture brings joy to library

By Rhonda Lee
What's new at the Q?

— Fall is just around the corner and soon the leaves will be turning beautiful colors.

It’s always sad when a beautiful tree is lost from storms or disease. We were all sad to see one of our big trees cut down due to disease, but that sadness was soon replaced by joy when we learned that a beautiful wood sculpture would reside where the tree once stood.

We would like to express our appreciation to Mayor Brad Clinkenbeard for his well-timed idea of replacing the tree with a wood sculpture. We’d especially like to thank Ben Sparks for his generous donation of time and creative design of the beautiful sculpture. This sculpture will be a wonderful landmark for our library and the town of Fort Gibson.

We now offer computer classes for beginners from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Due to limited space, classes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

We changed our Book a Librarian program to Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. We hope you will call and make an appointment for a one-hour, one-on-one session for help on a topic of your choice.

Don’t forget to stop by the library and have your picture taken for the Geek the Library Campaign. Everyone who has their picture taken will be entered into a drawing for a “What Do You Geek” T-shirt.

Don’t forget, we have a teen program at 4 p.m. every Tuesday and an after-school activity for elementary kids at 4 p.m. every Thursday.

See you soon at the “Q”!
