updates phones

TAHLEQUAH — The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has a new phone system.

Beginning last Friday, a voicemail system was introduced to the main number, (918) 456-2583.

Employees may now transfer calls to the 911 center, dispatchers, or the county Detention Center.

Callers who don’t want to hear directory options may dial “0” for a secretary; otherwise, options will be presented that allow callers to directly contact administrators and investigators.

Emergencies should be reported to 911.
