Barber shop to celebrate first year of business

A one-year anniversary and a Fort Gibson first are going to be celebrated this coming week. And, both are for the same business — Fort Gibson Barber Shop. The barber shop at 402 W. Poplar St. will be celebrating their one-year anniversary here in Fort Gibson, and are also happy to announce a “first” for Fort Gibson. The Fort Gibson Barber Shop will be the first two-man barber shop in our town. Derek Gawf, owner/operator of the barber shop, has announced that a second chair has been added, and his brother, Jack, will also be cutting hair at the establishment. Both have vast experience as barbers and specialize in men’s and boy’s haircuts and still only charge $10. That means that you will seldom have to wait for a cut, and advance reservations are not necessary, as they are happy to take all walk-ins. So, make it by their shop, at 402 W. Poplar St., and say hello to Derek and Jack. Congratulations on your anniversary and ability to grow your business within the community.

And finally, don’t forget to join us for our Weekly Chamber Luncheon, being held for the month of January at 11:30 a.m. each Thursday at the Courtyard Bistro. This past Thursday, we had Cheryl Hill, Kathy Perkins, Lisa Clayton, Carol Milligan, Melinda Williams, Samantha Bolding, Rhonda Lee, Tonia Cooper, Jerry Cooper, Mark Young, and myself enjoying a great lunch.  Everyone is invited to this weekly, very casual, get-together. After the last Thursday of January, the 30th, we will move the luncheon to Simple Simon’s Pizza for the month of February. That’s each Thursday, at 11:30 a.m. See you there.
