FG at Girls State
Representing Fort Gibson American Legion Auxiliary Post #20 at Oklahoma Girls State this year will be Krista Keeley, Kurstie DeShazo, both of Fort Gibson, and Charity Pickup of the Oklahoma School for the Blind. The program will be held May 25 through 30 on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. The citizens of Oklahoma Girls State are chosen for their high moral character, leadership, scholarship, and interest in government. Each year, Oklahoma Girls State also selects two outstanding participants to represent the State of Oklahoma at Girls Nation.
Pickup is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jon Pickup; DeShazo is the daughter of Brian and Ginger DeShazo; and Keeley is the daughter of Jerry and Susan Keeley.
FG native awarded business scholarship
Steven Lanham of Fort Gibson was awarded the Drs. Charles and Louise Rickman Endowed Scholarship from the University of Central Oklahoma College of Business. Lanham is a junior with a major in Management. He received the scholarship during the annual College of Business Honors and Awards Banquet.
