Preparations move quickly for Chili Cook-off fundraiser

By Rhonda Lee
What's new at the Q?

— Plans for the Jan. 28 Chili Cook-Off are quickly moving forward. Several people have signed up to enter the contest.

This contest is an opportunity for anyone who hasn’t entered their chili in a contest before to show off their skills and gain experience while giving experienced competitors another opportunity to hone their skills.

Competitors need to turn in their entry form by Friday. Entry forms are available at the library.

Contestants will bring their chili to the library between 4 and 5 p.m. Jan. 28 for judging. Tasting will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. Taster kits will be available for $5.

All proceeds from the taster kits will be used for Q.B. Boydstun’s 2014 Summer Reading Program. For information, call the library during regular hours.

The Chili Cook-Off is just one of our “True Grit” activities. Omar Reed from the Fort will present a program for all ages Feb. 8. The library will display a trunk of authentic cowboy items from the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City during the week of Feb. 18.

February is heart month, and Virginia Stanley will be at the library at noon Feb. 4 to present a program on nutritious meals.

So, mark your calendars for Jan. 28 for a great time and great food.

See you soon at the “Q”!
