Great opportunities exist to help others in our community

A very short Chamber Notes this week.

A reminder that our weekly chamber luncheon is being held at Simple Simon’s Pizza in February. Come join us at 11:30 a.m. each Thursday for good eats and great company.

Also, mark your calendar for this year’s Spring Fling for a Cause 5K Run and Mile Fun Run, which is scheduled for March 29. More info will be coming shortly, but this is always a great run and will benefit Special Olympics. For additional information, contact Lisa Walkingstick at (918) 869-0473, or Melody Stacey at (918) 348-5431.

Pushing out a couple months, this year’s Car, Truck, & Motorcycle Show is scheduled for June 13-14. This is our 20th annual show and we have big plans to make this year’s event the biggest and best yet. Included will be some major cash prizes and additional great giveaways. Plan now to enter and be part of this great event.

A fundraiser is being held for Jace Shepherd, who is going on a mission trip this summer. They are selling T-shirts at Tiger’s Den or Wavelink Communications to help sponsor the trip. Regular donations are also being accepted. For additional information, contact Jay Shepherd at Wavelink Communications at (918) 478-6222 or Debbie Shepherd at (918) 348-1657.

Also, Prom & Beyond is being hosted by many area churches to help teen girls who may need assistance with getting a prom dress for their 2014 proms. You can help by making a cash donation or by donating a “nearly new” prom dress for a girl to keep. You can also donate your time and service in the areas of makeup, hair styling, and manicure skills. For additional information, contact Susan Chepkauskas at (918) 781-3763.

These are great opportunities for our residents to help “make a difference” in the lives of others.
