Housing assistance applications available
The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation will soon be taking applications for students who need dorm room or college housing assistance, a media release states.
The College Housing Assistance Program applications for the spring 2014 semester are available Dec. 30 through Jan. 10.
Up to 125 full-time students working on a bachelor’s degree will receive $1,000 per semester for housing costs through the program. Students must show enrollment in an accredited institute of higher education.
“The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation is dedicated to helping all Cherokee citizens with housing needs, especially our citizens attempting to further their education and enhance their lives,” said HACN Executive Director Gary Cooper. “This program is designed to ease the financial burden that accompanies the secondary education process and allow citizens to focus more on earning their degree.”
College Housing Authority is a NAHSDA fynded origran designed to assist Native Anerican low-income students.
Students must also meet NAHASDA income guidelines.

County Conservation sign-ups continue
Sign-ups for Muskogee County Conservation’s Cost-Share FY 15 is ongoing.
Approved applicants will qualify for up to $1,200 in cost-share money not to exceed 75 percent of the cost of construction.
• Have a cooperator agreement.
• Have 20 acres.
• Sell $1,000 or more of soil dependent products annually.
All applicants will be ranked and selected according to rank.
Applicants can sign up from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 13 at 3001 Azalea Park Drive, Suite 1.
