Area people, businesses renew their chamber membership

By Gary Perkins
Chamber Notes

— This past month, we have had several businesses and individuals renew their membership in the chamber.

We want to thank the following for their continued confidence and support of our efforts: Boom-a-rang Diner, Mitzi and Carrigan Bradley, SonBurst Graphics, McDonald’s Restaurant of Fort Gibson, Faith Based Therapeutic Community Corporation, Harps Food Store, Kathy Carson, Fort Gibson Chiropractic, Keane Construction, Garden Walk Apartments, OG&E, Walker Family Dentistry and a commitment from Arvest Bank.

Again, we appreciate the support of all our membership.

If you’re not a member and would like to get involved, simply give me a call or send me an email, and we can get you set up. Cost to join the chamber is $50 for an individual or $150 for a business, annually. My phone is (918) 577-2069, or email at

For the month of April, our Weekly Chamber Luncheon will be held at the Boom-a-rang Diner, 1511 S. Lee St. Come join us as we get together at 11:30 a.m. each Thursday for this very informal luncheon.

Thursday, we finished up the month of March at Subway, and in attendance were: Justin Young, Tonia Cooper, Denise Bain, Lisa Clayton, Carol Milligan, Kathy Perkins, Melinda Williams, Samantha Bolding, and myself. See you at the Boom-a-rang Diner on Thursday.

This past week, the Barbecue Committee made the decision to change the date of this year’s “Smokin’ the Fort BBQ & Bluegrass Festival,” to Oct. 24 and 25. This was done after consultation with several of the participating teams and committee members.

October wraps up all the major Kansas City Barbecue Society events around the nation, and we wanted to make sure we were still within the confines of that structure.

Make sure to mark the new date on your calendar, for this annual event that always brings thousands of people to our downtown for great barbecue and lots of other activities and foods.
