It’s a sure sign of spring

— Jay Carman, 92, plows the garden of his sister, Helen Satterfield, not pictured, with his Gravely tractor. He also makes a big garden of his own every year.

He attributes his long life with attitude, hard work, and good living. He has lived in Fort Gibson since April 1942, and was in the Army during World War II.

He has been a commercial fisherman, and retired from Fort Gibson National Cemetery. He has been a member of the American Legion Post 20 in Fort Gibson for 64 years, and is a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Gibson.

He says he likes to work, and does a lot of it. He always stays busy. God has really blessed him with good health.
