Country-western night at Post 20

American Legion Post 20 is planning a Country and Western Jam on Thursday for residents of Fort Gibson and nearby communities.

Musician friends of the American Legion Band will entertain from 6 to 9 p.m. Others may show off their musical abilities, too.

Anyone who plays or sings is welcome to perform. Comedy routines are also welcome.

The Legion would like to make the night a family fun time for all to enjoy and an opportunity for young and not-so-young to show off a little.

Donations will be accepted to help pay expenses and our cause for God and country and the Trail of Honor. Concession foods will be available.

Safe schools, fitness meeting planned

The Safe School/Healthy and Fit Kids meeting is scheduled for 3:40 p.m. Sept. 19 in the Intermediate Elementary conference room.  The agenda will include discussion/recommendations for maintaining a safe school environment; and discussion/recommendations relating to health and fitness for Intermediate Elementary students.

Pastor’s daughter

to share her story

Tahlequah Aglow Community Lighthouse will feature Carla Cary at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Being raised in the home of a pastor wasn’t a magic cue card for Carla, according to a media release.

Cary experienced the disappointments and challenges that life can bring, the release states.

After falling to a very low point in her life, she finally came to a place where she opened her heart up to the Lord, and let Him change her and bring her the healing she so desperately needed.

Come hear Carla share her story. She also will share about her new book.

The meeting will be held in the Tahlequah Public Library Carnegie, 120 S. College Ave. Everyone is welcome.
