It feels strange to have all our Christmas lights and decorations up, but have the air conditioning on indoors. With the exception of a couple days, winter hasn't yet found us.
I suppose that is good news for some, but I miss the chill in the air that usually accompanies Christmas and all the seasonal going-ons.
It was one of the warmest Starlight Christmas Parade, and I will cover all the information regarding the actual parade in next week's Chamber Notes.
On another note, congratulations to all the cast members, supporting crew, and directors that were part of the Tiger Theatre Company and their presentation of “Legally Blonde: The Musical,” this past weekend.
The performance was exceptional, as can be attested to by all those in attendance. If you missed it, you missed our youth at their best.
My grandson, Jeremiah Perkins, was part of the cast and I know from his reports that a lot of hard work, not to mention the numerous hours, went into the production.
Again, congratulations to all of the cast and crew. A couple other events coming up in the next week include the Fort Gibson Historic Candlelight Tour at the Historic Site on Dec. 8.
For information and reservations, call (918) 478-4088. Also, the Christmas Home Tours are coming up on Dec. 9 from 1-4 p.m.
Information on this annual tour can be obtained by calling (918) 478-4034.
With the closing of Classic Kitchen in downtown Fort Gibson, we moved our Weekly Chamber Luncheon to Fajita Rita's for the month of November.
The past couple weeks found the following in attendance: Mark and Sherry Young, Tonia Cooper, Denise Bain, Justin Young, Lisa Clayton, Kathy Perkins, Cheryl Hill, Rhonda Lee and myself.
We appreciate the hospitality of Rene and Maria Corral, and look forward to the grand opening of their new restaurant, probably in February, according to Rene.
For the month of December, our luncheon will move to Charlie's Chicken at 1603 S. Lee St.
Come join us at 11:30 a.m. every Thursday for this weekly get-together.
Everyone is invited, and there is no formal meeting format, just good casual company and conversation — and always great food.
Also in December, we will be presenting our new Board of Directors for the 2013 calendar year, along with the annual chamber membership renewals.
Look for this mailing in the next few weeks.
We invite anyone that would like to get involved in the chamber, or has specific recommendations on how we can improve our efforts, to contact myself or any of our board members and let us know.
We are here for you, and our whole purpose is to bring meaningful events to our community and do our part in improving the business and tourist potential of Fort Gibson.
Your input is invited and vital to our success.
