Chamber Notes: Chamber now on Facebook

— Chamber Notes by Gary Perkins

The first big news I want to let everyone know about is the chamber has started its own Facebook page, and we will try and use it to keep everyone up-to-date on events, current happenings and what's going on in the chamber and around town.

You must first realize that I'm the one doing it, so don't expect the same unbelievable results that would come from a much younger, computer-savvy, highly creative individual.

But I'll do my best to keep it current and fun.

Check it out and "like" us or "friend" us under the heading Fort Gibson Chamber of Commerce.

If anyone loves to do this sort of thing and wants to help out with the effort, let me know and we'll let you at it. All suggestions are welcome.

We are excited as we approach our Annual Chamber Banquet scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at the Three Forks Harbor & Marina.

It will be a very enjoyable evening of fun featuring a silent auction, dinner catered by Fajita Rita's, special entertainment by the Cherokee Girls Choir under the direction of Kathy Sierra and a very special guest speaker, Cheryl Hill, who will enlighten and motivate us.

We will also present the "Teachers of the Year" awards. The banquet is open to everyone and cost is only $20 per person, payable at the door. An RSVP is not required, just come out and enjoy a fun-filled evening.

If you need any additional information, give me a call at (918) 577-2069. We look forward to seeing all of you out to this year's Annual Chamber Banquet.

Our Weekly Chamber Luncheons have been bringing out a crowd each Thursday, at the Courtyard Bistro. This past week, found Mark and Sherry Young, Tonia Cooper, Denise Bain, Cheryl Hill, Justin Young, Rhonda Lee, Doss Briggs, Kathy Perkins, Carol Milligan, Lisa Clayton, Paula Bookout and Stephanie Wickliffe (both representatives of Aflac), and myself.

We will remain at the Courtyard Bistro, throughout the month of January. Come join us and experience the fun. It's always very casual, with no business-like or meeting format — just friends getting together for lunch.

And finally, special thanks to the following businesses who have renewed their chamber membership this past week: Lone Oak Ventures, Advantage Controls, Dr. Michael Nelson DDS, Fort Gibson Tag Agency, Hamblin's El Toro, Steveson LP Gas Company, Fort Gibson State Bank, Quilts for You, Fort Gibson Public Schools, Muskogee Marble and Granite, Walker Family Dentistry, Scott's Valu Med Pharmacy, Cook Construction, and Dandy Dog Grooming.

We thank all our members, and appreciate the commitment and support they give us.
