Area prep football playoff roundup and next week's schedule

(Continued)

Wynnewood 67, Gore 15

WYNNEWOOD — Gore, finishing at 6-5 with back-to-back losses, struck first, but the No. 1 Class A Savages (10-0)  roared back and as expected, advanced to the second round.

Robert Clark’s pass to Logan Ohl covering 23 yards gave the Pirates an 8-0 lead with 8:30 on the opening quarter clock. Wynnewood tacked on 10 unanswered scores, three before the end of the period, and finished with 743 yards of offense to Gore’s 329.

Clark threw for 185 yards for the Pirates.

Stigler 55, Jay 28

STIGLER – The 3A-8 champion Panthers (9-2) put up a school-record 628 yards of offense in taking down Jay (7-4) in the 3A first-round contest.

Cade Shearwood was 9-of-12 for 252 yards and five touchdowns, three going to Colton Shearwood. Seth Sandlin, back at full health, had 10 carries for 150 yards  and three catches for 157 yards and two touchdowns, one of 80 yards and the other of 67.

Stigler had 390 yards of offense at the half.

“We can throw it well,” Stigler coach Chris RIsenhoover said. “It was one of those nights everything timed up really well. Cade did a good job putting the ball on his receivers. Jay was geared to stop our running attack. When we ran the play action, we hurt them.”

Christian Keith threw for another score and also ran 42 yards to paydirt.

Stigler hosts Berryhill in the second round of the playoffs next Friday night.
