Baseball

VIAN TAKES TWO – Vian, No. 2 in teh Okrankings.com Class 3A poll, improved to 28-2 after they downed Stigler in the first game 4-3 and Hulbert 7-1 in the second. The first game’s twinning pitcher was Shawn Troutman (9-0) pitching a complete game with three hits six strikeouts. Rylee Simon was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

In the second game Brett Hooper (3-0) was the winner and he struck out seven. Both Rylee and Rowdy Simon were 2-for-3 with Rowdy driving in two runs.

WISTER 3, EUFAULA 0— The Ironheads (11-12) to Wister on Monday. Dillon Larkin took the loss which moved his record to 3-3. He struck out four batters and gave up eight hits. The Eufaula Ironheads return to action Thursday hosting districts double header against Holdenville at 4:00 p.m. and the second game following at the conclusion of the first.

CATOOSA 3, HILLDALE 2 – Hilldale scored one run in the first inning and one in the third in the loss to Class 4A No. 2 Catoosa. Devin Riede pitched three innings of scoreless baseball while Jacob Stinson allowed a run in the fifth to pick up the loss. Hunter Harrison and Derek Altman led the offensive attack for the Hornets.



Boys golf

MUSKOGEE FOURTH – The Roughers golf team finished fourth in the Bartlesville Invitational on Monday. Spencer Smythe shot rounds of 76 and 79 for a 155 total and finished in a tied for fifth in the individual standings while Harris Jones shot 78-81– 159, Austin Jones 87-83–170, Connor Scott 87-90–177 and Tanner Felts 92-99–191.

FOUR SCHOOLS MOVING ON – Eufaula posted a score of 347 to win the Class 3A regional area qualifier at Cherokee Trails on Monday. Stigler (354), Sequoyah (376) and Keys (395) also advance to the regional tournament by finishing second, fourth and sixth, respectively, as the top six schools move on.

Eufaula used the scores of Luke Vancleave (83), Chris Johnson (86), Calahan Henry (88) and Mason Dobbs for their total. Stigler counted Gibson McAlvain (83), Lane Satterfield (85), Tyas Mitchell (92) and Levi Moss (94) while Sequoyah used Rylan Bunch (78), Kyle Butler (90), Tanner Ridge and McRae Cochran (112) for its team total. Keys had Shea Heble (87) lead the way followed by Alex Thompson (96), Kris Beres (104) and Larry Caviness (106).

Last Friday, the Ironheads captured the Heartland Conference (formerly the Eight Star) title at Fountainhead Creek with a score of 342. Eufaula grabbed the top four spots individually with Vancleave capturing medalist honors with a 79 while Henry (84), Johnson (88) and Dobbs (91) rounding out the top four.

HULBERT GOLFER ADVANCES – Hulbert’s Brandon Thompson advanced to the Class 2A regional by being one of the six individuals from a non-qualifying school at the regional qualifying on Monday at Pryor Creek Golf Club. Thompson finished with a 96 and grabbed the final spot.

SALLISAW TOURNAMENT—The Fort Gibson Tigers took second in the Sallisaw golf tournament on Monday. The Tigers shot a 615 for 36 holes. For Fort Gibson, Wesley Jackson posted a 71 and a 72 to earn medalist honors, Collin Abdallah carded a 77 and a 77 to capture eight and junior varsity golfer Jordan London placed tenth shooting an 78 and 80.

For the Hilldale Hornets, Chandler Puckett shot a 76 and a 74 to finish fifth.



Girls golf

LADY IRONHEADS GRAB CONFERENCE – On Friday, Eufaula posted a score of 347 to take the Heartland Conference title and swept the top 5 in the individuals standings with Faith Lasiter earning medalist with a 79. Melissa Eldredge (82) finished second, Hedi Stafford and Hanna Rippy tied for third with a 93 and Taylor O’Brien grabbed fifth with a 99. Ashley Fowler of Checotah came in sixth with a 102.

Slowpitch softball

MUSKOGEE 10-10, WARNER 2-0 — The Muskogee Lady Roughers, No.4 in the Okrankings-.com Class 6A poll, took both ends of the doubleheader on Monday’s doubleheader against the Warner Lady Eagles. The winning pitcher in both games was Morgan Taylor which improved her record on the season to 25-8. The hitters on the day for Muskogee (27-8) were Nia Maxwell who was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a double, Paige Gann who finished 4-for-6 with an RBI and Carlee Gann was a perfect 5-for-5 with six RBIs and a triple.



Boys tennis

ROUGHERS EIGHTH AT UNION – Muskogee saw the return of Connor Finerty at No. 1 singles but finished eighth at the Union Invitational on Monday.

Finerty came in second, losing to Zeke Clark of Riverfield in the finals 6-1, 6-2. Shan Bradley, playing at No. 2 singles, finished third, losing to Marko Tardio of Cascia Hall 6-7, 6-2, 10-12 in the semifinals before receiving a win be default over Edmond North.

In doubles action, Stephen Clark and Ryan Pearce fell in the consolation finals to the team from Tahlequah 7-6, 6-4 in No. 1 doubles while Seth Chapuis and Colin Watson struggled all day, losing their final match in No. 2 doubles to Riverfield 6-4, 6-4.
