Porter standout leads honorees

Three-time Muskogee Phoenix MVP Jacob Richardson was selected to the Small School East team on Oklahoma Coaches Association’s All-State teams released Tuesday.

Richardson, a four-year starter at point guard, averaged 33.5 points with 7.5 rebounds to go with 3 1/2 steals and 3 1/2 assists per game. No other area boys were all-state selections; however, several in addition to Richardson earned all-region honors.

Fort Gibson’s Jordan Hill, the All-Phoenix runner-up to Richardson, made it after his 20.8 point, 2.4 assist season as well as Checotah’s Braylon Warrior and Tahlequah’s Lain Wright on the Region III Large School East team. Warrior, a guard, averaged 17.8 points and Wright, a guard, averaged 14.1 points.

Included on the Small School East Region III squad is Richardson, Oktaha guard Blake Pittman (14.2 points, 4 assists), Vian forward Shawn Troutman (11.1 points) Haskell center Michael Love (14 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4 blocks) and Keys guard Trevor Eubanks (18.8 points, 5.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds).

Richardson qualifies for the All-State games to be held Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Mabee Center at Oral Roberts University.

The OCA All-State and All-Region girls teams will be released today.
