Putnam City at Muskogee

Putnam City at Muskogee

Kickoff: 7 p.m. Friday

Radio: KCXR 100.3 FM

Records: Muskogee 1-7, 1-4 6A-2; Putnam City 2-6, 0-5.

Last week: Jenks 56, Muskogee 14; Bixby 24, Putnam City 20.

Last meeting: Putnam City 20, Muskogee 17 (2012).

About the matchup:  Muskogee hopes the team that battled Fayetteville, Ark., close and walloped Edison is the one that shows up tonight. Putnam City needs the team that came close with Bixby (28-24) and Westmoore (16-14) than the team that lost to Edison. But back to the home team: Muskogee needs to win by the maximum 15 points to have any shot at a postseason berth next week when the Roughers host Bixby. Of top concern: Putnam City’s pair of defensive linemen: Wiley Lester at 6-5, 280 and Marc Jimmerson at 6-7, 299. MHS coach Josh Blankenship is also impressed with running back JaVone Knox, who has rushed for 861 yards on 165 carries.

Good news for the Roughers, both Ty Beasley and Mackenzie McCall are set to return to the lineup at linebacker spots, thus moving Tramal Ivy back to free safety. It’ll be the first time for all three original defensive starters to be on the field in weeks. Ivy had two sacks last week against Jenks and is second in the area with eight.

Series record: Tied, 1-1.

Notes: First meeting came in the quarterfinals of the 2005 playoffs…Muskogee will suffer its fourth straight losing season – the first time since 1999-2002.
