Boys golf

FORT GIBSON CAPTURES CUSHING – Wesley Jackson captured medalist honors to lead the Fort Gibson Tigers to the team title at the Cushing tournament on Monday.

Jackson finished his round posting a 69, highlighted by a hole-in-one in the 160-yard No. 6 hole using an 8-iron. Rayne Cox carded a 78 to finish seventh in the individual standings while Dalton Rhoden, Collin Abdallah and Jordan Londan shot an 81, 82 and 84, respectively.

MUSKOGEE CONSISTENT AT OWASSO – The Roughers posted scored of 334 and 337 at the Owasso Invitational on Monday.

Harris Jones led the way for Muskogee with a two-round total of 154 while Spencer Smythe finished at 159. Austin Jones (178), Tanner Felts (180) and Connor Scott (195) rounded out the MHS scores.

HILLDALE WINS 4A PREVIEW – The Lady Hornets posted a team score of 353 to pull out a two-shot win over Poteau and Seminole at the Class 4A Preview in Oklahoma City on Monday.

Katie Kirkhart finished fifth for Hilldale in the individual standings, shooting an 82. Courtney Cunningham came in sixth with an 85 while Kennedi Puckett, Paige Snyder and Haleigh Cox shot 91, 95 and 96 respectively.

MUSKOGEE 12-13, CHECOTAH 0-0 – The Lady Roughers dominated the Checotah Wildcats at Rougherettes Park on Monday.

Muskogee, 25-8 and No. 4 in the Class 6A poll, saw Morgan Taylor (23-8) record both wins in the circle and went 1-for-1 in the first game with a run batted in. Paige Gann was 2-for-3 in the first game and 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in the nightcap.

Hannah Alexander was 2-for-2 with a double, Brook Henderson was 1-for-1 with two RBIs and Kelsey McClure was 1-for-2 with an RBI. In the second game, McClure was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Shaylee Rowland was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs and Jessi Venable was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI.

LeeLee Horner (0-7) took the loss in both games for the Lady Wildcats (1-12).

OKTAHA FESTIVAL — Oktaha’s Lady Tigers won four games at its festival Monday, beating Salliaw 12-0, Fort Gibson 13-9, Tulsa Union junior varsity 12-4 and Roland 14-10.

Jenks also won four games, beating Fort Gibson 10-2, Henryetta 17-7, Muldrow 10-6 and Haskell 8-4.

Fort Gibson and Haskell each finished 1-2 in the festival. The Lady Tigers beat Tulsa Union JV 6-3 and Haskell topped Roland 13-9.

TAHLEQUAH 10-7, POTEAU 2-1 – Randee O'Donnell hit a pair of two-run home runs in the first game and two hits in the second game to lead the Lady Tigers over Poteau.

Britney Johnson and Kirsten Chase each had three hits apiece in game one for Tahlequah, 28-2 and No. 2 in Class 6A. Chase also had two runs batted in, which ended the game and brought the run-rule into effect.

In game two, Tahlequah scored three runs in the third and four in the fourth. Johnson again had three hits while Chase had two hits and three RBIs.

CROWDER 8, PORUM 5 — Carly Anderson had three hits, while Johanna Bailey had two including two RBIs, but it wasn’t enough for the Lady Panthers (16-4). Makayla Tillery was the losing pitcher as Porum opens district play at 1 p.m. today at home against Watts or Keota.
