CHECOTAH FINISHES RUNNER-UP – The Wildcats dropped a 6-4 decision to Silo in the finals of the Seminole tournament on Saturday to finish second. Checotah (10-4) dropped its first game of the day to Silo 4-0 before battling its way out of the loser’s bracket by beating Tonkawa 4-1.

Wyat Hatridge was tagged with both losses and saw his record drop to 2-3. He was also 6-for-9 in the three games with one run scored. Jack Christian (4-1) got the win over Tonkawa and was 3-for-4 in the game while Caleb Knight, who got the only hit in the first game against Silo, was 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs against Tonkawa. The Wildcats next play at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Morris.



Soccer

MUSKOGEE GOES 4-0 – The Lady Roughers defeated Broken Arrow JV 3-2 and blanked Capitol Hill 9-0 on Saturday at the Roughers Classic while the Roughers beat Booker T. Washington 2-1, winning in a penalty-kick shootout 4-3, and Broken Arrow 2-0.

Top goal scorers for the afternoon for the girls were Dia Brown, Kalen Castor, Paige Logston, Morgan Springborn and Ashley and Bailey Tull. Scorers for the boys were unavailable at press time. The Lady Roughers and Roughers host Owasso in their next matches with the girls match starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday with the boys beginning at 8 p.m.



Slowpitch softball

MOORE TOURNAMENT – The Muskogee Lady Roughers and Tahlequah Lady Tigers both went 1-1 on the final day of the Moore Tournament. Muskogee beat Norman 16-6 in its first game on Saturday while Tahlequah fell to Dale 20-5. The two schools faced each other in their second game of the day with Tahlequah coming out on top 11-7.

Against Norman, Carlee Gann and Lexi Watson each hit a home run for Muskogee (9-3), Gann’s fourth and Watson’s third on the year. Versus Tahlequah, Shaylee Rowland was 3-for-4 while Dee Emarthle was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, her third of the season.

Tahlequah (6-3) saw Kirsten Chase hit four home runs, two in each game to highlight the Lady Tigers’ day. Tahlequah hosts Jenks in a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

MUSKOGEE BOYS SECOND, GIRLS THIRD – The Roughers and Lady Roughers wrapped up play in the Tahlequah Invitational with the boys finishing second and the girls third.

The boys came in five points behind Tulsa Edison and six points clear of Tahlequah. Connor Finerty won the no. 1 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory of Conner Nelson of Tahlequah. Ryan Pearce came in second at No. 2 singles, falling to Max Harp of Edison 2-6, 6-4, 6-10. The doubles teams saw Seth Capuis and Cole Whitaker drop a 6-1, 6-1 decision in the finals to the No. 1 team from Edison while Colin Watson and Aspen Teague came in fourth at No. 2 singles, losing to Piedmont 6-4, 4-6, 6-10.

On the girls side, the Lady Roughers Claire Farmer took the consolation title at No. 1 singles, beating Piedmont’s Katie Poage 6-0, 6-0 while Terra Patrick finished fourth at No. 2 singles, falling to Grove’s Tori Lee 6-1, 6-1. The No. 1 doubles team of Larua Jardine and Alexis Rosson won the title with a 6-1, 6-3 win over the team from NOAH while the No. 2 doubles team of Emily Falleur and Brianna Griffin came in fourth, dropping a 6-3, 6-4 decision to the No. 2 team from NOAH.
