Vian shortstop lone area All-Stater

Vian’s Landon Decker not only was the area’s lone all-state baseball selection on the Oklahoma Coaches Association teams released on Monday, he was one of two Class 3A selections to the Large School East team as an infielder.

Decker played shortstop for the Class 3A finalists. He and OSU signee Blake Battenfield of Verdigris were the 3A selections on the east team. Verdigris beat Vian in the title game earlier this month.

Decker hit .372 in 113 at-bats with 10 doubles, three home runs, 25 RBIs and 17 walks. He also had a .918 fielding percentage.

The All-State games will be July 30 at Oral Roberts University.
