BIXBY 12, MUSKOGEE 2 — Bixby sent 14 batters to the plate in the second and thanks in part to Muskogee errors, hung a 10-spot on the Roughers en route to a five-inning run-rule victory at Bixby in the season opener for both teams.

Muskogee registered the first run when Austin Jones singled, moved to third on a Dakota Morse single and scored on Harris Jones’ RBI single.  Jones’ double in the fifth pushed Caden Cockle to third after drawing a leadoff walk, then Cockle scored on a wild pitch.

Jones (0-1) took the loss. Muskogee plays Sapulpa on Monday, weather permitting.

CHECOTAH 7, OKTAHA 4 –  Four runs in the fifth and sixth inning broke a 3-3 tie for Checotah in the season opener for both clubs.

The Wildcats had great offensive production thanks to Derek Christian and Andrew Sands who were both 3-for-4, Mark Miles who was 2-for-4 and  Cody Gilry was 2-for-3 and had four  RBIs. Wyatt Hatridge was the winning pitcher (1-0) and pitched a complete game  giving up four hits and striking out six batters. Checotah (1-0) will host Hilldale Monday. Oktaha (0-1) will host Pocola Monday.
