Muskogee’s D.J. McGriff finished fourth in the Class 6A boys discus with a throw of 131 feet, 5 inches at the conclusion of the 6A-5A regional track meet on Monday to qualify for the May 10-11 state meet at Yukon.

McGriff had his throw at Owasso High School after rain on Saturday also postponed the shot put and pole vault.

In 5A boys discus at Tahlequah, Wagoner’s Lateze Clayton won with a throw of 148-11 1/2. The other state qualifiers inclue Tahlequah’s Sylas Sloan (148-0) and Logan Cook (140-1/2).

Eric Garcia of Tahlequah won the 5A shot put (49-1/2) and Cook was third (46-11) to qualify for state.

Meanwhile, Wagoner’s Cherokee Ridge was fourth in the 5A girls shot put (31-1 1/2) and Tahlequah’s Janeth Seirra was fourth in the 5A girls discus (97-8 1/2).

These events were rained out on Saturday
