Muskogee ex makes first team
Muskogee High ex Mitch Stevenson, a junior on the Southern Virginia University baseball squad, was recently selected to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association first team.
The starter at shortstop led the Knights in batting average (.475), hits (54), runs (37), slugging percentage (.676), on-base percentage (.504) and doubles (15).
Stevenson, who will play this summer for the Rockbridge Rapids in the Shenandoah Valley Baseball League, an NCAA-sanctioned developmental league for professional baseball, was second on the team in RBIs (28) and third in stolen bases (8) throughout the regular season. Stevenson also currently holds the program’s third-highest career batting average (.393).
Lake Eufaula All-Star tonight
The Lake Eufaula All-Star Game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. today at Ironhead Stadium in Eufaula, with 17 area senior football players set to play.
On the North, Muskogee’s Trevor Jiles, Dexter McGriff, Dillon Rice and Preston Soper will play along with Tyler Addy, Denver Berry and Tommy Minor of Checotah, Cody Faries and Michael Sinouhi of Eufaula, Jake Farmer and Andrew Brestel of Fort Gibson, Luke Moses and Briar Campbell of Warner and Midway’s Chase Carpenter and Roper Selby.
The South team includes Logan Palmer, Nikita Muse and Lane McGuire of Stigler.
