MURRAY STATE 10, CONNORS STATE 7 — Playing at Tishomingo, the Cowboys had the winning streak snapped at 17 games in falling to 19-2 for the season on Saturday.
Kelvin Ramos (2-1) was losing pitcher as Connors fell behind 7-0 after three innings. Connors was able to cut the deficit to 8-6 in the six inning.
Eric Kirkpatrick had a two-run double and Taylor Fourkiller had a two-run double in the sixth inning. Phil Diedrik slugged a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
Kevin Brill was the winning pitcher as Murray State slugged two solo home runs in the eighth inning.
BACONE 12, WILEY 7 — Antonio Horn had two hits and drove in seven runs as the Warriors improved to 20-8 overall and 11-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference.
Steven Smith also homered as he and Jean Ortiz added three hits each. Jonathan Villela and Eric Folkers each had two hits in the win. Matt Durbin (2-0) struck out four batters in five innings to pick up the pitching win.
MISSOURI WESTERN 10., NSU 3 — At St. Joseph, Mo., NSU had three cracks to stop the winning streak, but Missouri Western State swept the RiverHawks and has now won 14 games in a row.
Ryan Staggs went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove home one of Northeastern State’s three runs. The RiverHawks were outhit 13-6 in the game. Trevor Walch (0-1) gave up six runs (three earned) on eight hits in 4.2 innings.
OSU SWEEPS IONA — The Cowboys got just enough timely hits to beat Iona 6-1, completing a doubleheader sweep Saturday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys won the first game, 16-0.
Oklahoma State freshman Donnie Walton went 3-for-4 with the go-ahead RBI double as the Cowboys (16-3) overcame a slow offensive start to score three of their six runs in the bottom of the sixth in the second game. Vince Wheeland (4-0) picked up the win.
In the first game, Victor Romero went 1-for-4 with three RBIs while Fish and Krietemeier each went 3 for 3 with two RBIs as Oklahoma State pounded out 16 hits and scored nine runs in the fourth inning en route to the run-rule victory over the Gaels.
OU 7, NW LOUISIANA 2 — OU (16-4) pounded out 11 hits, marking the 11th time in 2013 the Sooners have tallied at least 10 hits in a game. Hector Lorenzana went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the offensive charge.
Matt Oberste went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, extending his hitting streak to 23 consecutive games dating back to the 2012 season and giving him the third-longest such streak in OU history. Garrett Carey blasted his third home run of the season while freshman infielder Kolbey Carpenter also went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
