More winter mishaps: Game cancellations and postponements extended

Connors State’s basketball games against Redlands on Thursday were postponed to Tuesday due to icy road conditions, one of a number of postponements or cancellations.

The Cowboys also postponed today’s home tilt against Oklahoma Wesleyan JV and the  Cowgirls’ game at Arkansas Baptist, also scheduled for today. No makeup dates were announced on either contest.

Fort Gibson’s wrestling match at McAlester along with all area basketball games scheduled Thursday were not played. And then there’s today’s action in all sports.

Muskogee’s home basketball opener against Owasso tonight won’t go as planned. The two schools will try for Saturday or possibly Jan. 3 as a makeup date.

Bacone also called off home games today against Huston-Tillotson and Our Lady of the Lake on Saturday.

Other cancellations include Fort Gibson at Catoosa, Miami at Keys, Wagoner at Vinita, Stigler at Eufaula and Central at Warner. Fort Gibson has rescheduled this past Tuesday’s home opener against Locust Grove for Jan. 3 and Catoosa for Jan. 27.

The Hilldale Tournament set to begin Thursday has been canceled entirely. Also canceled with no set schedule for resumption: Okay and Haskell in the Liberty Tournament and Oktaha in the Wilburton Tournament.

Also called off on Thursday was Muskogee’s wrestling dual at Broken Arrow.

On Wednesday, all OSSAA football playoff dates were moved back a week. The only area team still playing, Vian, will face Davis next Friday at McAlester.

The changes have the 4A and 5A title games moving to Saturday — they were to be played today — and the 6A title game between Jenks and Union moving to next Thursday at the University of Tulsa’s Chapman Stadium instead of being played at Stillwater.
