No. 1 Lady Hornets roll

It’s supposed to go this way when you’re a No. 1 ranked team.

In that spot for the second straight week in Class 4A, the Hilldale Lady Hornets unleashed a 15-hit attack and won easily over Locust Grove, 15-0 at Locust Grove on Tuesday afternoon.

Hilldale won its 11th consecutive game and is now 12-1 on the season.

“We kept our intensity at the plate. That’s sometimes hard to do when you’re facing younger teams like we did today,” Hilldale coach Darren Riddle said. “That’s the thing you want to look for though in situations like that and we did exactly that, so I was pleased.”

Destiny Riddle was 3-for-3 with a three-run home run in the first inning, her third of the season. That was part of a seven-run inning. She also had two doubles and totaled four RBIs on the day.

Mackensie Plant had three hits and three Lady Hornets finished with two —Toni McMillan, Kyla Ibarra and Kinzey Mize.

Destiny Riddle allowed just one hit in what was a three-inning run-rule affair. She held them to two hits in an 8-0 win at Hilldale on Aug. 15 in the Lady Hornets’ second game of the season.

Hilldale is in the OU tournament in Norman later this week. The Lady Hornets take on Purcell and Yukon on Thursday with game times at 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Two more games are scheduled for Friday in pool play.
