CLASS 3A AREA III  — Playing at Adair, Keys freshman Jaylee Young had 17 points but none more important than her 3-pointer at the buzzer of the overtime period, sending the Lady Cougars (12-11) into today’s Class 3A regional consolation final against Salina with a 57-54 overtime win against Stigler.

Young was making her first start and had five 3s.

“She’d been playing with confidence this week and helping our defense,” Keys coach Mickey Duncan said. “When she gets herself going she can shoot the ball. We had the feeling, she had the feeling and it worked out for us.”

Stigler ended the season at 11-14 and missed two shots in the last eight seconds of regulation that would have won it. Turquoise McAlvain led the Lady Panthers with 15 points. Hannah Garman scored 12 and Brook Hurst added 10.
