'True' or 'transplanted,' Okies celebrate Muskogee Two truly are one By Donna Hales Phoenix Staff Writer Scott and Leigh Ann Matthews, married for 25 years and best friends even longer, can finish each other's sentences. And when they do, they start laughing. "Our minds work the same, and I know what she is thinking," he said. They've been singing together for more than two decades and love it. "We sing pretty much anything we can pull off with an acoustical guitar," she said. "From the 30s to today, country to jazz, soft rock, the blues." "There's no such thing as a favorite, we love them all." They sing for weddings and funerals. She sings in a church choir. They live on nine acres near Muskogee and lease even more. Both say they just enjoy country life. "I'd rather live in a tent on 10 acres than have to live in town," Leigh Ann said. Scott said he agreed but would have to have a mattress in the tent. The couple loves animals but are at an all-time low in numbers at present. "I love to take care of my critters - that's part of my fun stuff," Leigh Ann said. "Birthday cards list all the animals." Her horses are named Tee, Denny and Annie. The mule is June and the donkey is Mazie. Their five dogs are: Partner, Dodie, Emma, Whoa Nellie and Lexie.
