THE PEOPLE SPEAK: Drug lab could have happened anywhere

May 14, 2008 07:38 pm

I am the chief operating officer of Regency Inn and Suites in Muskogee.
This letter is in regards to the drug lab incident, which occurred May 5 at the Regency Inn. Running a hospitality business is difficult in many ways, the most difficult being managing our guest’s safety and privacy.
Motels have a stereotype of being run down, drug infested and overall, not being a great place to be around.
However, I would like to say that the Regency Inn is a motel that is breaking that stereotype to pieces. We make every effort to meet and even exceed quality and service standards set by the largest and finest motels/hotels around the world. We work hard to give our guests the quality they deserve. The incident on May 5 was an isolated one in which the guests did not show any signs which would cause us to believe that illegal drug activity was taking place.
The Regency Inn is a family-owned and -operated motel. We monitor our property 24/7 for unusual activity. We work hard to prevent our property from being used in drug trafficking or any other illegal activity. We fully comply with local and federal authorities and, subsequently, all laws and regulations.
The incident on May 5 could have happened anywhere. Unfortunately, it occurred here. Despite that, I strongly believe the Regency Inn is still one of the safest and cleanest places to stay in Muskogee. I will gladly answer any questions regarding this incident or any other questions to assure the public of this fact.
