The Phoenix Editorial Board could not be more wrong in a recent statement that to blame Democrats for the high price of gasoline is simplistic. It’s typical for the Phoenix to ignore the facts.
The United States is said to be the only country in the world that restricts drilling for oil. Today, the United States has enough reserves to be the No. 1 producer in the world.
Note these facts: In 1997, Bill Clinton vetoes the Republican vote to drill in ANWAR. Later, it was Al Gore that cast the tie vote to force the disastrous ethanol on the market. We see the consequences today.
Democrats blocked drilling off the east and west coasts and the Gulf, blocked building of oil refineries, sold out to environmental extremists, set up no zones where they will not allow drilling or development.
Prices began to shoot up when the Democratic Congress took control in 2007 under the Pelosi-Reid leadership.
They and other liberal Democrats refuse to allow the right to mine or drill. Communist China and Cuba have started to drill in the Gulf 50 miles from Key West. The Democrats haven’t said a word against it.
Eighty-five percent of Americans support domestic energy, oil and coal, and 175 members of Congress signed to increase oil production. Only one Democrat signed, Neal Abercrombie of Hawaii. Liberals are the real problem.
A few Republicans had joined the Democrats, yet many have now seen the great need and can win in the fall if they have the spine to stand up for America and the right to drill for oil. McCain now supports drilling. When you buy $4-a-gallon gas, remember Clinton, Gore and how wrong the Phoenix is.
Thank them.
