It seems Ron Pevehouse wants to blame previous county commissioners for his problems as county commissioner.
I am Bruce Crittenden, former District 2 commissioner. I don’t know whether he is trying to blame me or Roy Rains, or both, for his road problems.
My understanding is there are seven roads closed, bus and mail routes, which were not closed when I took office, nor were they closed when Pevehouse took office.
Rains offered no apology for leaving me something I asked for — neither should Pevehouse expect one for something he asked for. It is not like he wasn’t left without over half a million dollars — well over half a million, almost $700,000, which is public record. The unencumbered funds in the road account alone were $569,275.63.
When I took over, I had $120,000 — which was probably more than Rains had when he took over.
I could recommend a supervisor who could have traffic on all those roads in two, eight-hour working days. The old saying, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,” surely applies here.
I appreciate the opportunity the public gave me to serve and apologize to them if I fell short.
Bruce Crittenden
