THE PEOPLE SPEAK: Cynical criticism misses senator’s good

In reply to Larry Parsons’ Sept. 29 letter to the editor, it is obvious Larry is not a Christian, very bitter, and it seems he has an anti-Christ nature.

I was present when Sen. Tom Coburn moved the town hall meeting in Broken Arrow to the community center for a larger space. We did make a brisk walk of about three blocks to be sure we would have a place to sit, simply because of the crowd.  Some stood.

I don’t think there was any alleged blind hero worship but most of the crowd was appreciative that Coburn has stayed with traditional American values versus the recent anti-American legislation. The same goes for all of the elected representatives from Oklahoma.

Before blasting both senators about trips out of the United States, Parsons should know that they do many times use their own funds to go on trips. It should be known that Inhofe has some personal, generous projects in Africa.

He has an adopted a grandchild from Ethiopia who was rescued from a garbage dump when she was a few days old (It illustrates a point against abortion). He takes her on some of his trips because she is very outgoing, loves to sing and is better at PR than he is.

Considering the bad legislation Congress is trying to pass — cap and trade, health care, etc., per the 10th Amendment to the Constitution — Oklahoma and any other state does not have to comply if the state’s citizens do not agree.

The Oklahoma Legislature has passed a bill of state sovereignty. Let Gov. Brad Henry know you want him to listen to the people of Oklahoma and let Congress know we will not willingly comply.
