It would be humorous if it weren’t so serious. I hear the Republican supporters constantly shout misinformation to hide the truth from the public.
This is illustrated by a couple of letters recently published in this paper. One published in March stated “the answer is not to raise taxes on the wealthiest Americans, which was just done.” That is a totally false statement. The wealthiest are paying the lowest taxes in the history of the country.
Another letter published in January railed against the Democratic Party calling it communistic, while saying that the GOP has been for the biblical teaching. In my opinion, the radical right refuses to aid the poor, or help the downtrodden, as the Bible says they should. They support the extremely rich, who are the greediest in the country.
Corporate profits have never been higher. The average CEO’s pay is 344 times more than the average worker, which is 10 times a wider spread than it was 10 years ago. The typical CEO makes more in one day than the average employee makes in a year. An illustration of this is Lockheed Martin CEO, Robert Stevens, who last year took in $24 million, which is 787 times what the average worker was paid.
The GOP extremists in Congress constantly inflict pain on the working families, while demanding cuts in Social Security, Medicare, and many other public assistances. They do this so they can protect Wall Street and the richest 2 percent of Americans. While the GOP is holding the economy hostage, they are extracting their ransom demands, and the working families are just collateral damage.
I have voted for GOP candidates in the past, but I can’t vote for the current ones. Why don’t the Republicans see just what the party is doing to America?
