THANK YOU 06.01.13

— WE WANT to thank all the people who donated to the Boynton Cemetery fund during the Memorial Day weekend. Also to all the volunteers who donated their time and labor to maintain the cemetery all through the year. It has been a labor of love for all the great people who are buried at the Boynton Cemetery.

Special thanks to Cecil Guthrie, Ronnie Tennison, Bob Foster, Alan Herriman, Ray Allen, Larry Naumann, and others who have used their own equipment to maintain the cemetery.

Thank you all.

On behalf of the residents of Boynton Cemetery

WE WOULD like to thank everyone for their generous donations to the South Bethel Cemetery maintenance fund. We would also like to thank Cherokee Nation for the generous donation they gave. We very much appreciate all the donations and with these donations, we will be able to keep the cemetery mowed and looking neat.

I would also like to give special thanks to Mackey’s Lawn Service for doing such a great job mowing and weed eating before Memorial Day, Rudy Wilson, Hack Isbell, Jake Craig, J C  Dotson for all the work they did removing the tree that the storm had felled and J D  and Yvonne Johnson for all the work they did to make the Memorial Day a success. We appreciate the efforts of everyone involved and hope to have another great year. All flowers not removed will be removed on Saturday, June 8, 2013, in order to mow.

THE MUSKOGEE AARP Taxaide volunteers just completed another very successful tax season by preparing and assisting over 500 senior and low income tax payers. The volunteers would like to thank all Muskogee Library staff, both employees and volunteers for their outstanding support.  These folks play a very important part in making the free service provided by the taxaide volunteers a success. They arrive early to let volunteers in the library, take phone calls and deliver messages, provide furniture and equipment needed, assist in room arrangement and setting up computers, direct taxpayers to the volunteers location and anything else they can possibly do.

Names are not mentioned here as surely someone would be left out but all of you staff members of the Library know who we are talking about. Under the guidance of Jan Bryant these folks always have a smile on their face and stand ready and willing to assist anyone entering the Library for any reason. This free service has been supported by the Muskogee Library for over 15 years and has been and continues to be a great service for the community. Again, thank you Muskogee Library staff.

MANY thanks to the Five Civilized Tribes Museum for sponsoring the Classical Native Stars concert. Special thanks to Museum director Mary Robinson. Thanks also to Bacone College for the use of their lovely chapel.

Thanking those people who came to the concert supporting the Five Tribes Museum and classical music.

The two other singers came from New York City and Kansas City and the wonderful pianist, Timothy Long, here from New York City, all enjoyed being in Muskogee.

This was perhaps a first for Muskogee, hosting four classical Native performers all together at one time. How often does the Muskogee Phoenix receive a thanks? We do appreciate it.
