THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Solutions needed for medical care system

Some people contend we have the finest health care system in the world and didn’t need “Obamacare.”

They say people from European countries come here for medical treatment because they have to wait in their countries but can get better medical care here.  This may be true, but a physician I know, who has spent many years in private practice and government service, told me “medical care is rationed” in the U.S. “by ability to pay” and has been for a long time.

Recent reports show that hospital ERs, in states accepting the Medicaid expansion, are now enrolling many patients in the Affordable Care Act.  This will give them more revenue since patients that qualify may get paid retroactively.

Solutions to our medical support problems are needed.  Too many people have suffered and died early because of the unconcern and indifference of people in our country.
