THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Put returning soldiers in schools

— The NRA has recommended placing an armed guard in every school. This has been labeled a flawed, bad idea. There is a win/win solution to this ongoing problem. All of the service people returning for foreign engagements could be put to use here (there will be many more in 2014).

What better candidate than an already trained, U.S. soldier, fully equipped to handle the very situation? Some may complain about the low pay that would have to come with it, but I would wager there are many that would be glad to have a job and the chance to serve.

An odd thing about the $10,000 grand giveaway. The last two weeks before the big drawing, I shopped at six stores that told me they were out of tickets and did not know when or if they would be getting anymore. A clerk at Lowe’s told me they had to buy theirs and when they gave out their allotment, they would buy no more.
