THE PEOPLE SPEAK — Writer asset to Phoenix, community

I am an avid history buff and was pleased to see that the Muskogee Phoenix had an excellent historical columnist, Jonita Mullins. You can tell she has done a lot of research.

I was shopping at “The Blessing” when I noticed a novel “Journey to an Untamed Land” with Ms. Mullins name on it. My daughter, Susie, gave it to me for my birthday. It was so intriguing, I could hardly put it down.

The main character, Clarissa, goes on a mission trip in 1820 from her home in Connecticut to teach the Osage Indians in Arkansas Territory. She carried a shameful secret with her. The book has real-life happenings, adventure, romance, courage, and moral ideas. Muskogee can be proud to have such a wonderful author.
