There is no such thing as Stepfather’s Day, maybe there should be. We live in a topsy-turvy world where almost everyone has had a divorce, or is in the middle of one or wants one. There is a stepfather in almost every extended family. He comes in a package with mom who wants a new partner on the other end of the couch.
Most stepfathers are rookies when it comes to dealing with kiddos so they learn on the job to listen for clues in solving the mysteries of little ones. Here are some reasons for a Stepfather’s Day:
Your real dad may never be around so you consider your step-dad your father. Your step-dad may be better for you than your real dad. A step-dad is family. If your step-dad is a nerd, thank your lucky stars because chances are you’ll end up working for one. More than likely your step-dad gets tough with you, he’s getting you ready to deal with a real boss.
You may live in your step-dad’s pad. Step-dads teach you that life is unfair so get used to it. Step-dads don’t put up with whining when you mess up, they make you learn from it and move on. A step-dad listens when you tell him how cool you are. A step-dad makes you de-louse the closet in your room. If your step-dad has bad habits they can teach you what not to be. A Stepfather’s Day can by joyful.
