Post 403 Legionaires and Unit 403 Auxiliary, wish to thank the Muskogee Phoenix for your continued support of the Muskogee area veterans organizations and their endeavor to help all veterans. Without the support of the citizens of Muskogee, this would be almost an impossibility, as we depend on donations and local support to be able to have the finances to do so.
A new American Legion Post and Auxiliary was established in Oktaha and was named in honor of a young man from Porter who made the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan, and this post has grown by leaps and bounds as new members are joining every month.
At present, Post 403, the mayor and the city council of Oktaha, are getting ready to have a “First” Parade on Veteran’s Day and so far, it looks to be an awesome day for Oktaha. We will have judges to present trophies for best entry and so far we have quite a variety of entries, but hope to have even more by November. EasyMart in Oktaha is planning a car show that day that will be set up by their store and can be seen from Highway 69.
This is just a pebble on the beach of what is happening in Oktaha and the American Legion 403. We will always welcome new members for Legionnaire, Auxiliary and Sons of Legionaires. If you wish to enter your business you can either have a float, car with advertisement on the side, etc., and join in the history making parade for Oktaha.
Veterans, spouses, and children, we extend an invitation to come join us as a member of an American Legion Post that is endeavoring to make a difference for veterans and families, and staying true to our motto: “Veterans helping Veterans.” We will put info in the Muskogee Phoenix later as to date and time of parade. For information, you can contact Cmdr. Lanny Cartwright, (918) 687-1861 or Adj. Becky Alexander, (918) 577-5865 for Legionnaire membership or parade; and Barbara Cartwright, Pres., Unit 403 Aux., (918) 687-1861.
