Red Cross reports 14 remain in shelter

— As of 4:30 p.m. Monday, the Red Cross reported that one shelter remained open because of the recent ice storm. Westville had 14 residents expected to remain overnight.
The Red Cross served 964 meals Monday, down from the 1,500 that were delivered during the weekend. The total number of meals served to date is 6,737. Approximately 2,000 heater meals were delivered to homes.
Tuesday, mobile feeding routes will be focusing on the Cookson to West Siloam Springs route along the Arkansas border. That is where most of the power outages remain.
Nellie Kelly with the Red Cross reports that 99 Red Cross personnel have been involved in the relief effort.
A few residents remain without power. Hamid Vahdatipour, chief executive officer of Lake Region Electric Cooperative, said approximately 120 were waiting to have their electricity restored. That process is expected to be completed today.
Al Stevens, a spokesman for OG&E Electric Services, reported that electric service was restored to all of OG&E’s customers by Thursday or Friday of last week.
